Un brin d’espérance face aux inégalités dans l’éducation en République Démocratique du Congo

Résumé

La présente contribution s’assigne pour objectif de rendre compte de l’initiative d’organisation et attribution des bourses sociales aux étudiants de l’Université Catholique de Bukavu en République démocratique du Congo. Cette initiative peut être vue comme une véritable main tendue aux nombreux étudiants issus des classes défavorisées mais souvent très performants pour lesquels les études supérieures ou universitaires seraient une ambition inatteignable en raison de l’incapacité de faire face aux frais de formation. Cela se comprend encore mieux lorsqu’on se situe dans le contexte de crises politiques, économiques et sociales récurrentes en République Démocratique du Congo où la majorité des citoyens vivent sous le seuil de pauvreté. Cette contribution analyse dans quelle mesure cette initiative de bourses sociales pourrait être un motif d’espérance à travers la présentation de ses origines, de ses objectifs, de la constitution de son fonds, de sa réglementation et des réalisations enregistrées à ce jour.

Abstract

This contribution aims to report on the initiative to organize and award social scholarships to students at the Catholic University of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative can be seen as a real helping hand to the many students from disadvantaged but often high-performing backgrounds for whom higher education or university studies would be an unattainable ambition due to the inability to meet training costs. This is even better understood when viewed in the context of recurring political, economic and social crises in the Democratic Republic of Congo where the majority of citizens live below the poverty line. This contribution analyses to what extent this social scholarship initiative could be a cause for hope through the presentation of its origins, its objectives, the constitution of its fund, its regulations and the achievements recorded to date.
